New Account

Well I haven’t posted anything new on here in over six months, but I haven’t stopped photographing and I have hundreds of new pictures that have yet to be posted. I’ve decided it’s time for a change though, and I’ll be starting over again with a brand new account at [link] . I’ll be posting revamped versions of most of my older pictures on that account, and then the newer stuff will follow. Rather than just dumping everything on there at once, I’ll be posting a couple new pictures every day until everything is up. So for those of you who have me on your :+devwatch: list, you can add my new account if you wish to see new deviations. Thanks,

Travis.

10,000 Pageviews

Mon Jan 9, 2006, 7:28 AM
Well I'm not exactly sure what's going on, but for some reason I seem to be getting well over 100 pageviews per hour today. Already, over 1200 people have visited my page today and it's only 8 AM EST. If anyone has any idea where all these visitors are coming from, I'd love to know!

Anyway, this has pushed my pageview total past the 10,000 mark, and I'd just like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of the regular visitors and supporters of my gallery. Thank you for coming back and giving :+fav:s and comments and giving me the motivation to keep shooting. I had sort of been taking a break from shooting over the past couple months, but your recent support has made me want to get back out taking pictures more than ever. Thank you.

*EDIT: I believe the source of all these pageviews is a plug from on a completely unrelated site for computer security: [link]

Thanks!

Always back up your files

You may have noticed that the pictures I submit tend to be taken about three months before they are uploaded. This is because I like to take my time processing my images so I can get them looking just they way I want them to. Right now, I’m still working on pictures from the end of July, so I still have a huge backlog of pictures to go through and submit.

Or at least, I did.

I have limited space left on my computer, so I had stored all of my raw pictures on my mother’s computer from which I could later retrieve them to work on and post. I figured it would be a safe place for them and never bothered to back them up to CD or anything. Well a couple weeks ago, her computer stopped working and she brought it in for repair and they said it would have to be formatted. We got a new hard drive and transferred everything onto it, but now most of my image files are damaged and presumably lost forever. Even when I open them with a hex editor, all that shows up is a bunch of 00s, so I’m quite sure they’re not retrievable.

Not all of my pictures are like this, but most of them are. Of the 6,356 pictures I had taken since the beginning of August, only 1,247 remain. I shoot everything from a variety of angles and at many different exposures, which is why I had so many files in the first place. The 1,247 remaining pictures are just a random, scattered assortment, but at least there is still something there to salvage. Most of these were landscape/outdoors shots, so I suppose I could attempt to recreate many of them next summer, but it’s still really disappointing to know that I already had the shots and now they’re gone. Also, pretty much all of my fall shots are gone, and I probably won’t be living here next year, so I won’t be able to recreate those.

Oh well.

Take a moment to check out some galleries you probably haven't seen before: [link]

There's a lot of great stuff in there, it's definitely worth a look.

Thanks to fd9z0r ([link]) for this great idea.

New Camera!

So I was pleasantly surprised with a new Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel under the tree this morning. It might take me awhile to familiarize myself with it, but look for a lot more pictures and possibly even prints available in the near future.
